Support for the circular economy

Its high durability, low weight and easy recyclability make aluminium the material of the future. However, the production of aluminium from raw materials is one of the most energy-intensive processes. By remelting aluminium and giving it new life, Oetinger not only reduces the amount of waste that ends up in a landfill forever, but we also avoid a high demand for energy. Every year, almost 2 TWh of energy is saved that would otherwise be needed to produce aluminium from raw materials. This corresponds to about 1 % of Germany’s electricity demand. Furthermore, primary aluminium is produced outside of Germany, so recycling aluminium can reduce imports and the transport of raw materials around the world.
