The main type of waste generated at Oetinger is salt slag. In 2020, 50 500 tonnes of salt slag were generated, which we transport to a specialised recycling plant where the salt and aluminium oxides are separated and returned to Oetinger for reuse.
Our Oetinger plants also generate a significant amount of filter dust. The filter dust comes from our filter plants, where the waste gases from our furnaces and scrap processing plants are mixed with additives (e.g. chalk and brown coke) and separated via a modern filter system.
